Hi all, were back ^^
Last week (6-7 October 2012) we were on trip to Krakatoa or
Krakatau (next will be mentioned Krakatoa) in Sunda Strait. Little bit
explanation about Krakatoa. According to Wikipedia Krakatoa (Indonesian: Krakatau) is a volcanic
island situated in the Sunda Strait between the islands of Java and Sumatra in the Dutch
East Indies (modern Indonesia). The name is also used for the surrounding
island group and the volcano as a whole. The Krakatoa volcano exploded in 1883,
causing a massive tsunami and killing an estimated 36,417 people and destroying
2/3 of Krakatoa island. The explosion is considered to be the loudest sound
ever heard in modern history, with reports of it being heard up to 3,000 miles
(4,800 km) from its point of origin. Currently, the Krakatoa volcano has
re-emerged from the ocean, and is the principal force in the on-going formation
of a new island, Anakrakatoa, or "Child of Krakatoa". Source : Krakatoa at wiki
Now about the trip, we got the information from milis posted
by “Patungan Jalanan” and we decided to join the trip without knowing who else
we know. We contacted the tour leader and we’re listed as member of the trip.
On October 6th all members gathered at meeting
point 19.00. because of the traffic and light rain all gathered at 20.00 and we
board the bus that will take us to the Merak Harbour. Before that we all pray
together for the safety of the trip. The bus trip took us 3 hours and arrived
around 23.00. the tour leader bought the ticket for all of us (25 people) and
we board the ferry. We’re sit in the economy class (the ticket is around Rp.
11.000,-) which is so hoooooot while the ferry docking and some upgraded their
ticket to business class with air conditioning (by adding Rp, 8.000,-), we try
to upgrade too but the business class already full (only a big room with no
chair, so everybody sit on the floor). After a while the ferry starts to move
and the wind blow so strong through the huge window, and because we sit near
the window we couldn’t sleep at all. The cruise took about 2 hours. And finally
we arrived at Bakahueni Harbour around 03.00 in the morning. From the harbor we
chartered 3 cars (public transportation) and head for Kalianda port. In the middle
of the road, we stop at one of the driver house for breakfast and some take
rest and preparing for snorkeling. At 05.00 we continue our trip to Kalianda
port and arrived at 06.00. the tour leader took care of the permission and we
waited 1 hour for our boat to take us cross the Sunda Strait. Our 1st
snorkeling spot is near Sebuku Island, nothing can be seen in this 1st
spot except corals, no fish found and because the current is still strong the tour
leader decided to continue the trip to 2nd spot. After we arrived at
the 2nd spot, the guide check for the current, and he informed that
the current is still strong and decided we go straight to the inn.
We arrived at the inn in Sebesi Island around 12.00, the
lunch is ready and some take rest and cleaning their self and unpacked the bag.
We explore the small island, the beach is beautiful with white sands and the
water is also clear (forget to take the picture :p). i played ball with the
kids from the island. After playing a while I take rest and we cruising the
ocean again at 15.00. we arrived at some inhabitant island and played along the
beach, lil pups collecting sea shell and sea stone. She collected lots :p.
during the trip back to the inn, we hunt sunsets that sooooo beautifulllllll….
The afternoon fills with seaside activity because of the
current still strong. And we return to the inn around 18.00, have our dinner
and cleaning ourself. The inn is quite lovely, only one big room and bed aligned
on the left and right side, but the toilets quite not clean and also the water
is so minimum, so we have to stint the water :p.
We already planned for bbq but the inn owner have agenda
till night and we have to cancel our bbq and everybody took the rest. We sleep very
tide maybe because of the journey from Jakarta to the inn took lots of our
energy :p.
The tour leader planned our departure to Krakatoa at 04.00
but everybody ready around 05.30 :p. we took our journey around 2 hours and
arrived at “Child of Krakatoa” the view is magnificent, a sandy mountain
covered with green vegetation along the coast line, the water is so clear, but
because of the nature of the sands is black/brown its look like black :D. we

And we began our trekking to the “Child of Krakatoa”. We come
through the green vegetation and arrived at sandy and stony field. It’s quite challenging
track for we that never climb mountain before and because of the sand sometimes
we slip down little bit and the sun heat is making us exhausted very quick. But
the view of our surroundings is so awesome, you can feel He is so great.
When we arrived at the top it’s feels greaaat, the air so
fresh and not hot. We took some time to take pictures and enjoy the scenery. And
we took the stone (I took 3 kind of stone, the lava stone, and another 2 kinds I
don’t know :p)
We took another route to go down because the sulfur already
smell in the air, halfway down we felt our feet so hot it burns like hell,
because of the sun heat and heat from bellow, if you put an egg on top of it I’m
sure it will be cooked in no time. We hasten our pace and finally arrived and
find shade and took off our sandals, feels great. Next time don’t forget to
wear shoes instead of sandals :p.
On the shore, we have our breakfast and after that our
destination is snorkeling at Lagoon Cabe, the cruise took 1 hour, and after
arrived I’m immediately jump in to the water. So clear and lots of fish, the
corals also colorfull :p. the journey finally paid in this spot, we spend 2
hours enjoying the view and feeding the fish. The current is still quite strong
in this area, but we enjoy our time ;).
At 13.00 we cruising back to the inn to have our lunch and
cleaning and preparing for going back to Jakarta. Because the information from
employee of the harbor, we took the better ferry where we upgraded our ticket
to business class where we can sleep in the couch ;p. We arrived at 02.00 and
head back to our home. It was a nice trip ;).
